Bible Study Planet

I am always on the lookout for great Bible study tools for our kids. I just discovered Bible Study Planet, and am looking forward to fully browsing their site. They have a section that is totally devoted to kids, so you can just about guess where I'll be hanging out!

This little heart cave is a great project for studying lessons about many different Bible stories. Many of the stories in the Bible talk about how Jesus raised people from the dead, and gave new life to hopeless situations. Some people think they sound like science fiction, but those are some of my favorite stories!

This project is a simple wooden heart shape, covered with river rock. The door is a small clay saucer, and the angel is printed from a coloring page. Put one together for your favorite Sunday School teacher; or for your home Bible study corner!

You'll soon have a gathering of little ones who will be eager to learn about the stories you have in mind... take advantage of their interest, and spend some time talking to them about Jesus. It will be fun for everyone!

Looking for a more advanced project? Well, here you go! I simply used a clay pot and saucer, then covered them with river rock. You can use white stones for the door, then spend some time teaching your kids about the time Jesus told the Pharisees they were like "white-washed sepulchres!"

Resource For Paper Bible Characters

Colorful craft projects bring an added dimension of life to your Bible study sessions. Most kids love to work with paper, glue, and the freedom to express themselves with it!

Provide your little ones with a project idea, then stand back in amazement as their imagination takes flight! I like to provide an idea for inspiration, then watch for the glow that comes to the face of a child with a bright idea.

Paper characters can help children understand the cultural differences that are the hallmark of stories that are based in ancient history. Be prepared to answer questions like, "Why did the men wear skirts?" and "How did they cook their food if they didn't have any electricity?"

 

I made these dolls with manila file folders and some remnants of scrapbook paper. I found the patterns at Making Friends. They have a huge selection of kids craft supplies, and the patterns can be downloaded for free. It's one of my favorite resources, and I like to visit them frequently!

They have a section of paper dolls for a wide variety of topics, and you can find patterns for the doll bodies, clothing, hair and accessories. I highly recommend them, and invite you to drop by and download your Bible Friends. Do some shopping while you are there, then gather your kids for a daily dose of Bible crafting!

Your paper crafting sessions will provide you with a life long bond with your kids, and that is one of the best gifts you could ever give to your children. Now, go grab your supplies, gather up the kids and spend some time waging war on the lack of Bible knowledge! Your kids are waiting...

Download Name Cards For Kids Bible Train

I'm working on a project to help teach our kids about the books of the Bible, and I thought some of you may like to begin to create your own study trains.

I'm using standard card stock to create the train cars... the cars in this picture are 2" x 4", and the colors are based on the different categories of the books. I used my Sizzix to cut the wheels, which are 1" in diameter. You can also use the yard sale stickers that are available in office supplies stores, or just cut your circles freehand.

Here is the color scheme I am using to create my cars:

• Law - Red
• History - Green
• Poetry - Gold
• Major Prophets - Black 
• Minor Prophets - Purple 
• The Gospels - Red
• Church History - Black
•  Letters - Blue
• The Revelation- Red

I used standard business cards to print the name plates, but you may also choose to use coordinating colors of card stock to create your name labels.

I will be using these little cars for another project, and will post a picture when it's finished!

Also, I created a lens at Squidoo that would be a good study tool for when you are working on memorizing the books of the Bible. It's colorful and fun, and we know how much our kids love to engage in technology!

Create A Colorful Environment For An Inspiring Study Time

Family devotions can be a time of great fun for everyone, and a colorful environment will help coax the kids away from the television and into your family study corner. Afer all, waging war on the lack of Bible knowledge should be anything but boring!

As you can see, I'm fortunate to have a dedicated space for working on my favorite crafts and lesson plans. I use inexpensive materials, and recycle as much as possible. You can see just the corner of my file cabinet peeking out on the left side of the photo... that was a $4.00 bargain at my local Goodwill! I'll show you some more pictures when I have finished painting it.

My map is a fabric panel, and helps to create the educational atmosphere that keeps me inspired while I work on my Bible study materials. Here's a picture of one of the projects I'm working on right now... Wait until you see what I'm going to create with these little train cars!

A Mask For Teaching Lessons About The High Priests

The duties of the High Priest are talked about often in the Old Testament. Jesus is known as our Great High Priest, so the details of that job are an interesting topic of conversation!

This little mask is made with inexpensive materials, and can be used as a visual for any number of Bible lessons. Creating projects that relate to the story of the day will help them remember the details of the stories you share together.

My High Priest doll is a more advanced project that is suitable for older children. It's made with recycled materials, felt and inexpensive rhinestones. I've been working on this project for a while, but I'm still not quite happy with the pattern.  I'll keep at it, and will let you know when I've completed the instructions!

Clara's Jumbo Crayon Keeper

Arts and crafts are some of my favorite tools for teaching Bible stories... kids love activities that allow them to spend time with you, and the projects you create together create memories that will literally last a lifetime.

Clara is the mascot for all of my artsy endeavors, so creating this coloring crayon keeper was yet another opportunity for me to explore my passion for artsy self expression, Bible style!

As you can see, I had great fun painting, and Clara has Jerusalem on her mind...

The crayon keeper makes great room decor, and is a great motivator when it comes to getting some help with the clean up process! The pot is made with simple products that are readily available at your local craft retailers or home improvement stores.The paint is water based acrylic, so the clean up process is easy too.

The design possiblities are endless, so I invite you to grab your favorite little Bible voyagers and spend some time creating a crayon keeper that will reflect your family's love for Bible crafting!
