Teaching kids to be aware of the needs of others is a hallmark of the faith based
family. But, what of those children who are born to the circumstances of
poverty, abuse and abandon? How will we help bridge the gap for children whose
only knowledge of “Dad” is an empty seat at the family table?
The answer to that question can be found in the Bible, and makes our mission
abundantly clear.
“As you have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men,
especially those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
"Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God." Isaiah 40:1
Children learn what they live, so it’s important that children are presented with a full
spectrum of opportunities to learn about helping to meet the needs of others.
Responsible parents take an active role in the care and education of their children,
but the responsibility for widows and orphans has been assigned to the family
of God.
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To
visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself
unspotted from the world.” James 1:27
I'm on a mission to help bridge the communication gap that was a part of my experience with homelessness. The church is often the first place that people turn to when they need help with serious life issues like homelessness, mental illness and domestic violence. It's important that we be equipped to help meet the very complicated needs that are associated with these issues.
We can do a better job of influencing the world for Jesus if we help people to overcome their personal adversities.
This blog shares the story of how God's Word has already had great impact on my own life, and will offer my thoughts and ideas about how the faith based community can more fully
understand the needs of orphans, widows and those whose emotions have been battered by harsh life realities.
It’s the story of how Father God taught me that helping to meet the needs of others
begins with learning to take care of myself. It’s an adventure in learning more about how to connect with other Christians who are seeking to live their lives for Jesus, and discover the details of His good plans, for ALL of us…
It's a monumental task to teach our children how to love like Jesus did, but that too; is the hallmark of faith based families. The word assures us that we can do all things through Christ, so our task is clear...
It's a journey of learning to transform our minds through the light of God's word... I invite you to join me as I share my thoughts with you about the challenges of the transformation process!
